On February 22 we had a letter published in the Guardian (a feat in itself, you might consider). It followed a spate of letters about the internment of refugees in Britain during WW2 - a new book has just been published on the subject, The Island of Extraordinary Captives, by Simon Parkin, which gives generous acknowledgments to our own pioneering book on the topic, Collar the Lot!, published in 1978. One letter in the Guardian made some fanciful claims about a U-boat attack on the deportation liner Dunera, which was laden with internees, in September 1940. The letter was laden with errors and misconceptions. Our letter in response made some important corrections.
